Walking with the Wise #207: Sees It All
“Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the LORD;
how much more the hearts of the children of man!"
—Proverbs 15:11
—Proverbs 15:11
How much does the Internet truly know about you? Google yourself and find out. I bet you could find your name, possibly pictures of you, places you’ve lived, things you’ve done, etc. In fact, if we were to get a top line hacker to find out information about you, he or she could probably find out anything—where you work, places you frequent, where you bank, shop, etc. It seems that the Internet knows everything about us—and not only us, but everything else. It’s amazing what you can find online—it’s almost limitless.
The Internet is an amazing tool of information, but it still pales in comparison to what God knows and what God sees. The Internet can’t see past death, nor can the Internet see your inmost thoughts. Only God can see that! God knows our hearts, He knows our sins, our sicknesses, and the various situations in which we find ourselves, and even though He knows our most intimate desires and dreams, even though He knows how deep our rebellion goes, He still chooses to love us by giving His Son—Jesus Christ, to die for us. The Bible says,
“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”—Romans 5:8.Can you believe that God chose to die for you even after all of the evil you’ve done? Each lie you’ve told, each evil word you’ve said, every evil act you’ve done—He’s seen each one. Not one has gone overlooked or been missed. And even then, He chose to die for you and for me.
Delight in the God who loves us in spite of our disobedience! May His grace enable us to live for Him, may His mercy cause us to praise Him, and may His love cause us to love Him. Amen.
