Walking with the Wise #242: Speak the Truth

"Righteous lips are the delight of a king,
and he loves him who speaks what is right."

—Proverbs 16:13

Christians are to be known by their pattern of life, sacrificial actions, warm disposition, inexhaustible joy, and speech that represents the Lord who bought them. We are to always tell the truth, making sure our speech is “gracious, seasoned with salt” (Colossians 4:6), knowing full well that others are listening to us talk and wondering whether Jesus is truly real in our lives. If we speak what is true, then we will discover that we are blessed. Rulers delight in those who tell the truth and speak what is right—without a hidden agenda or ulterior motives.

Speak the truth today, let God be the God of your life, and specifically of your lips, and let all who hear you be drawn to the Lord Jesus who bought you for Himself. Amen.
