Hungry for God: When You Believe

"Do not fear, only believe."—Mark 5:36

We are extremely fearful creatures. We are afraid of what people think of us, what will happen in the future, failure, and a horde of other things. The Bible says that our first fear should not be of man, or failure, or the future, but of God:
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction”—Proverbs 1:7.
When we fear God more than we fear man, everything else should fall into place. Even then, however, we face situations in life when we fear what the outcome will be—the cancer report, the spouse leaving, the child’s prodigal life. Even then, we should not fear, because God has told us to “fear not!” He has given us His Holy Spirit, and His Spirit is not one of “fear but of power and love and self-control”—2 Timothy 1:7.

We need not fear what life throws at us, because He is there for us and with us (cf. Matthew 28:20).

“God is our refuge and strength,

a very present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,

though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,

though its waters roar and foam,

though the mountains tremble at its swelling.”
—Psalm 46:1-3.

Believe in Jesus, beloved! Trust in Him! He is there for you, to help you in your time of need! He died to give you life, and delights when we come to Him in bold faith, asking of Him, because in doing so, His name receives glory and you increase in joy, which results in Him receiving more glory! Do not fear! Just believe! Amen.
