Walking with the Wise #485: Heavenly HR
“The one who hires a fool or who hires those passing by
is like an archer who wounds everyone.”
—Proverbs 26:10 (HCSB)
God’s Word is the umbrella over all of life—covering every type of relationship, including hiring an employee. Whenever you hire an employee, you must look at the sum total of their life. If, for example, you were to hire a fool, or someone off the street whom you don’t know very well, you face the possibility of hurting everyone around you. He or she may not be qualified to do the work, thus hurting you as the owner, other employees who have to work for or with him or her, and the clientele you are trying to serve.
Our responsibility as employers is to take into account the character, aptitude, ability and dependability of the person whom we are looking to hire. If we are discerning in our hires, we will soon discover our business and employees thriving. Put people in the right places and it should be smooth sailing (as God allows), for your business (provided that there is a need for your product).
May God enable us to be smart employers and faithful employees, as we live our lives to reflect the one who purchased us by His passion and for His purpose. Amen.
