Walking with the Wise #115: Standing Steadfast

“The wicked are overthrown and are no more,

but the house of the righteous will stand.”
—Proverbs 12:7

When Jesus is the foundation of your life, you are immoveable. After all, what can man do? He can lie, slander, gossip, maim, steal from, and even kill us. But we are eternally secure, and paradise waits for the child of God. Not so the wicked; they might find success in this life, but in a moment, they will be overthrown and all of their earthly accomplishments will come to nothing in eternity’s halls.

God’s Word tells us that the wicked are overthrown and forgotten—the memory of them will be wiped from the face of the earth. But for the righteous, God is their advocate and He will cause them to endure for generations, as Moses wrote:
“Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations, and repays to their face those who hate him, by destroying them. He will not be slack with one who hates Him. He will repay him to his face”—Deuteronomy 7:9-10.
Live for Christ, build your life according to His Word and let God build a house and legacy for you. Leave Christ, neglect His Word, and you will experience pain and suffering. Let God be your God, live for Him, honor Him, and He will become your defender and advocate for the glory of His name. Amen.
