Satan’s Strategy for Your Life #11: Blinded

“In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”
—2 Corinthians 4:4

Watching television for any length of time and one can see how Christians are viewed in the world today. Whether it is Ned Flanders of The Simpsons, South Park, or Bill Maher, Christians are viewed as dumb, idiotic, backward, foolish, intolerant, uneducated, and close-minded. Such animosity comes from Satan who is at war with God and as the “god of this world” he has successfully blinded the minds of unbelievers and made followers of Christ look foolish.

Everyone in this world is blinded to the truth of who God is, because “people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil”—John 3:19. Satan has blinded unbelievers by keeping them in darkness, but unbelievers stay there because they enjoy it. And all of the world would stay in darkness, that is, until God reveals Himself to them through the proclamation of His Son Jesus Christ, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ”—Romans 10:17.

How does this knowledge of God come so that people might turn from darkness to light? It is through our proclamation of Christ! And when we do, God causes light to shine out of the darkness! As Paul said,
“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ”—2 Corinthians 4:6.
We partner with Christ in proclaiming His Word and it is through our proclamation that faith is given and sinners become aware of the darkness in which they live and their need to embrace the light of Christ! God didn’t ask us to help Him in creation or to sustain the universe. He asked us to walk across the room and tell others about Him! He asked us to partner with Him in helping turn sinners from darkness to light so that they might turn to Christ and be saved! Don’t let the world stay in darkness! Be the “light of the world” (Philippians 2:15) as God has purposed us to be! Pray for boldness and tell others what Jesus has done for you so that they may experience the joy of knowing Christ and making Him known! Amen.
